College baseball: BPCC continues good start with conference victory over Panola

Seth Gurr’s outstanding effort on the mound helped the Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers defeat Panola 7-3 in a Region XIV game Tuesday at BPCC.

Gurr went the distance in the seven-inning game, scattering six hits.

BPCC improved to 9-2-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference. Panola dropped to 6-9 and 2-1.

The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was rained out and will be made up Friday at 2 p.m. at BPCC.

The Cavaliers matched the Ponies with six hits. Two of those were home runs.

Ayden Makarus hit a two-run shot with two outs in the first inning. Alejandro Cazorla sent one over the right field fence with two outs in the second, scoring three.

Cazorla finished 2-for-4 with four RBI. 

Mason Hammonds went 2-for-3. Collin Young had a double.
