College baseball: BPCC picks up two wins in Baton Rouge event


The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers won two games in Baton Rouge on Sunday.

The Cavs defeated St. Louis College 7-2 in the first game and Baton Rouge Community College 5-4 in the second.

Cole Frost went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI against St. Louis. Austin Stegall had two hits, including a home run, and two RBI. Joseph Tassin also homered.

Tanner Johnson went the distance, allow just four hits and striking out 10.

The Cavs only had five singles against BRCC, but they took advantage of 12 walks and four errors.

Dakota Wright reached base three times and had two RBI. Hunter Shaw also had two RBI.

Luis Santiago drew three walks.

Cody Navarro, Alex Boone and Brent Holcombe combined to give up 10 hits but only two earned runs.

Holcombe earned his fifth save.

The Cavs (9-7), who have won five in a row, travel to Raymond, Miss., Wednesday for a game against Hinds Community College.
