College baseball: BPCC runs winning streak to four

The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers ran their winning streak to four with a doubleheader sweep of the Henderson State JV Monday in Arkadelphia, Ark.

The Cavs improved to 6-3 with the victories.

BPCC won the first game 13-1 and the second 8-0.

Will Doughty and Dylan Watts had two hits each in the six-inning first game. Bobby Lada hit a solo home run.

Jose Cabrera Jr. pitched three innings of no-hit ball with five strikeouts for the win.

Doughty had two doubles in the second game. Adrian Minjares, Andrew Mills and Lada all had two hits. One of Minjares’ was a home run.

Jayden Saylor went four innings for the win. He allowed one hit and struck out six.

Last Friday, BPCC swept two games from the Champion Christian College Tigers of Hot Springs, Ark., with the games being played in Sterlington on the turf fields after much rain.

The Cavs won the first game 4-0 and the second 3-1.

Zachary Pierre was the winning pitcher in game one.

He allowed only one hit and struck out 10 over six innings. Beau Ross pitched the final inning.

Drake Browning went 2-for-3. Brayden Corley had two RBI on one hit.

In game two, Elliot Hebert blasted a two-run home run in the seventh.

Dylan Collins got the win, allowing two hits and striking out nine over six innings.

Daniel Schaffer recorded the last three outs to earn the save. Mayo went 2-for-3.

The Cavs begin Region XIV play Thursday at Paris Junior College. The teams are scheduled to complete the three-game series with a 2 p.m. doubleheader at BPCC on Saturday.
