College baseball: BPCC splits doubleheader with Paris


The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers split a doubleheader with Paris Junior College on Friday in Paris, Texas.

BPCC (12-13, 2-4 Region XIV East Zone) won the first game 8-0 and Paris took the second 8-5. Paris also won the series opener on Thursday 15-5 at BPCC, thus winning the series 2-1.

Aaron Edelman pitched a five-hitter with four strikeouts and only one walk in Game 1.

Dakota Wright, Aaron Thompson, Cole Frost, Kyle Koch and former Haughton star Sam Wallace all had two hits. Wright had a double and Frost had two RBI.

Wright had a triple and three RBI in Game 2. Austin Stegall walked four times.

Joseph Tassin went 4-for-4 with a home run in Thursday’s loss. Frost went 3-for-4 with a home run and double.

Koch went 2-for-4 with a home run. Santiago and Thomas had two hits each, including doubles. Stephen Zayas hit a home run. Hunter Shaw doubled.

The Cavs had 15 hits, only one less than Paris, but hurt themselves with five errors.
