College baseball: BPCC splits home doubleheader

The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers split a home doubleheader Wednesday against Hinds (Miss.) Community College.

BPCC won the first game 3-2 and lost the second 13-2.

Former Evangel standout Austin Stegall had a double and home run in the victory. Former Airline star Landon Lewis started for the Cavs. He went four innings, allowing four hits and one earned run while striking out five.

Cody Navarro and Stephen Morris allowed a combined three hits in the final three innings. John Michael Boswell and Matt Hammock had two hits and one RBI each.

BPCC scored the winning run in the seventh. Daniel Rushing drew a walk to lead off the inning and advanced to third on Stegall’s double. He scored on Boswell’s squeeze bunt.

Tye Holliday and Reuben Edwards had two hits each in the loss. Holliday and Zach Rathbun each had doubles. Five BPCC pitchers allowed 12 hits and issued seven walks.

BPCC hosts TCS Post Grad in a doubleheader Saturday starting at noon.
