College baseball: BPCC sweeps Angelina, hosts UA-Rich Mountain Monday


The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers swept Angelina College, 7-2 and 12-2,  Thursday at BPCC.

BPCC improved to 19-9-1 overall and 11-7 in Region XIV. The Cavaliers host Arkansas-Rich Mountain Community College in a non-conference game Monday at 2 p.m.

Connor Crowson went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI in the seven-inning first game.

Ayden Markarus went 2-for-2. Alejandro Carzola went 2-for-4.

Cole Ketzner had a two-run double. Kameron Edwards had an RBI-double.

Starter Zach St. Pierre went four innings. He allowed three hits, struck out five and walked three.

Seth Gurr allowed three hits and no runs in the final three innings.

The second game lasted just six innings because of the 10-run rule. Makarus ended it with a three-run home run. 

Edwards went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Gavin Baird went 3-for-4. 

Makarus went 2-for-2 with four RBI. He also walked twice.

Mason Hammonds went 2-for-4 with a double. Cole Ketzner had a double and walked twice.

Cameron Duke, a former Providence Classical Academy standout, got the win. He allowed six hits and two runs in five innings.
