College baseball: BPCC sweeps Northeast Texas CC


The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers swept a Region XIV doubleheader against Northeast Texas Community College 11-5 and 10-0 Sunday at BPCC.

BPCC improved to 15-6-1 overall and 8-4 in the conference. Northeast Texas dropped to 6-16 and 3-9.

Mason Hammonds went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI in the seven-inning first game. Gavin Baird had two hits, including a double, and three RBI.

Kameron Edwards went 2-for-4, including a double. Cole Ketzner also went 2-for-4.

Alejandro Cazorla had an RBI-triple. Gabriel Cabrera singled and walked twice.

BPCC starter Zachary St. Pierre gave up two hits in three innings and struck out five for the win.

Caden Griffin pitched a five-inning two-hitter in the second game. He struck out six and walked two.

Baird went 3-for-4 with a double. Cazorla also went 3-for-4. 

Connor Crowson hit a grand slam home run in the bottom of the third to give the Cavs a 6-0 lead. He also had a single.

Ayden Makarus went 2-for-3. Simon Grinberg had a two-run double.

BPCC faces Centenary College in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Monday at BPCC.
