ENID, Okla. – Former Benton star Cameron Horton helped No. 1 LSU Eunice win its sixth NJCAA Division II National Championship in Enid, Okla.
The Bengals (59-6) defeated Parkland College 5-3 on Slate Fuller’s two-out walk-off home run Friday. LSUE won the best-of-3 championship series two games to none.
Horton belted a three-run opposite field home run in a 9-5 victory in Game One.
In Game Two, Horton went 1-for-2 with two walks. He started the Bengals’ ninth-inning rally with a two-out walk. Tournament MVP Koi Westbrook followed with a single to score Bren Faulk, tying the game at 3.
LSUE also defeated Northern Oklahoma College-Enid in the tournament twice, 10-1 and 10-6, and Brunswick 9-0.
Horton, a redshirt sophomore, walked twice in the 10-1 victory over NOC-Enid. He had a single and RBI in the 10-6 win. He also walked twice in the victory over Brunswick.
