College basketball: BPCC women start new year off with victory


Samarius Colquitt scored 31 points as the Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavs started the new year with a 91-54 victory over Southwest Christian College Tuesday in Terrell, Texas.

Colquitt was deadly from long range, making seven of 10 3-pointers. Diamond Willis also had a big game with 21 points, 10 rebounds and six steals. Former Haughton star Mikayla Barber had 17 points, and T’Erika Bell added 15.

BPCC (13-2) resumes Region XIV play Saturday against Angelina College (9-7, 2-4) at 2 p.m. in Lufkin, Texas. The Lady Cavs are tied for second with Kilgore College at 4-1. Trinity Valley (12-1, 4-0) tops the standings.
