College basketball: Ex-Bossier star Joseph James honored by RRAC

LSUS senior guard Joseph James, a former Bossier High star, has been named Red River Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. James received the 15th and final award of the 2014-15 basketball season.

James established a career high for points in a game with 42 as the Pilots won a pair of games last week.

He reached his new career best with eight 3-pointers in an 89-56 victory over Paul Quinn College (Texas) on Friday.

James wrapped up the regular season with 20 points and four assists in the LSUS finale, a 79-64 win over Texas College on Saturday.

For the week, James made 23-of-44 shots from the field (52.3 percent) and 12-of-28 from 3-point range (42.9 percent).

James finished seventh in the conference in scoring this season with 16.2 points per game, and he led the RRAC with 86 3-pointers. LSUS earned the sixth seed in the RRAC tournament with a conference mark of 12-8 and a final regular season record of 21-9.
