College cross country: BPCC men win first meet


The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers men’s cross country team won a meet for the first time Friday.

The Cavs won the college division of the Border Dash hosted by BPCC at South Bossier Park. BPCC scored 26 points to 29 for runner-up Jacksonville College. Runners from Jarvis Christian and Texas College also competed.

BPCC’s Xavier Wilson and Austin Jacobsen finished 2-3, respectively. Wilson, a former Airline standout, covered the 8K course in 29 minutes, 8.7 seconds. Jacobsen, a Parkway product, ran a 29:34.6.

Also in the scoring for BPCC were Rangel Miller (seventh, 31:03), JT Perot (8th, 31:06.9) and Cameron Rogers (ninth, 31:19.9). Miller is a Bossier grad and Rogers was a Parkway standout.

Bryan Gonzalez of Jacksonville College won in 28:57.8.

Jacksonville College won the women’s division with 19 points. Jarvis Christian was second with 36.
