The LSU Tigers will look for their first road win when they face the Auburn Tigers Saturday.
Kickoff is 11 a.m. at Pat Dye Field at Jordan-Hare Stadium (ABC).
LSU (4-2, 2-2 SEC) is coming off a 31-0 victory over Mississippi State. Auburn defeated then No. 1 Georgia 24-21 last week on the road.
LSU moved up to No. 17 in the US LBM Coaches Poll and No. 17 in the AP Top 25. Auburn received votes in both polls but remains unranked.
There is good news on the LSU injury front. Tight end Trey’Dez Green, who has missed the last four games, was not on the report released Friday, meaning he’s available to play. Lineman Prince Umanmielen and receiver Jackson Harris, both of whom left last week’s game early, are also not on the report.
LSU will be without linebacker Whit Weeks, safety Dashawn Spears, receiver Phillip Wright IiI, linebacker Charles Ross II and defensive tackle Richard Anderson.
Both of LSU’s losses have been on the road against Ole Miss 32-24 on Sept. 19 and Kentucky 35-34 in overtime Oct. 10.
During his weekly press conference Monday, LSU Head Coach Lane Kiffin, a former offensive coordinator at Alabama, described Auburn as a “magical” place.
“Really electric place,” he said. “Been there a lot. Iron Bowls. Kinda magical place. So we’re going to have to prepare really well and be ready to play in a really loud environment that they play really well at.”
Kiffin said LSU’s road woes can be attributed to mistakes.
“A lot of times on the road as you break down your losses, in close losses there’s usually not as much how many plays you make, it’s more the mistakes you make — more penalties, more false starts, more turnovers — than when you play at home.”
Auburn ranks No. 10 in the SEC in total offense at 394.17 yards per game and No. 12 in defense at 371.00.
Against Georgia, Auburn had 192 yards rushing and 174 passing. Quarterback Byrum Brown rushed for 115 yards on 26 carries and completed 15-of-26 passes for 150 yards. He rushed for one TD and passed for one.
For the season, Brown has rushed 459 yards, including sacks, on 107 carries and scored five touchdowns. He has completed 119-of-185 passes for 1,205 yards and eight touchdowns with seven interceptions.
“Really hard player to tackle,” Kiffin said. “Similar to playing (South Carolina’s) LaNorris (Sellers) that way. They’re different styles but strong and break through a lot of arm tackles. Someone really smart by the way he plays.
“We’re going to have our hands full playing a really physical team on defense and a really hard quarterback.”
Jeremiah Cobb is second on the team in rushing with 306 yards on 58 carries and two touchdowns.
Keshaun Singleton and Chas Nimrod lead the team in receiving. Singleton has 32 catches for 367 yards and Nimrod has 31 for 333.
Despite its injury situation, LSU ranks No. 1 in the SEC in total offense at 504.0 yards per game and defense at 256.43.
Sam Leavitt is third in average yards passing per game at 255.00. He has completed 148-of-211 with 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Dilin Jones ranks fourth in rushing yards per game at 80.86 on 128 carries. Harris is No. 10 in receiving yards at 65.14 on 27 catches.
