College softball: BPCC splits doubleheader against No. 9 Tyler JC

The Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavs split a home doubleheader against NJCAA Division I No. 9 Tyler Junior College on Wednesday.

The Lady Cavs lost the first game 9-2 then came back to win the second 4-1.

BPCC (31-9, 13-5) is in third place in the Region XIV East Zone, two games behind Tyler (34-13, 13-3) in the loss column. The Lady Cavs and Apaches split four conference games this season.

BPCC’s Elisa Favela pitched a two-hitter with eight strikeouts in the 4-1 win. Chelsea Fagan went 3-for-4. Shelrika Bryant had a two-RBI double. Morgan Bullock also had a double.

Tyler’s Kelly Mardones, the East Zone leader in wins, ERA and strikeouts, pitched a four-hitter in Game 1. Bryant had two hits, including a double, for BPCC.

BPCC continues Region XIV play Saturday with a doubleheader against Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas.
