College softball: BPCC splits two games in Crossover Tournament


The Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavs split a pair of games Sunday on the final day of the Crossover Tournament in Beaumont, Texas.

BPCC defeated Laredo Community College 5-4 and then lost to Galveston CC by the same score in eight innings.

Chelsea Fagan had two hits, and Morgan Bullock and Kaitlin Davis both had doubles in the victory over Laredo.

The Lady Cavs rallied from a 4-3 deficit with single runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh.

In the seventh, Elisa Favela led off with single, advanced to second when Fagan was hit by a pitch and reached third on a ground out. She scored on Bullock’s fielder’s choice to shortstop.

Favela got the win, allowing seven hits and striking out eight with only one walk.

Ashley Nipper scattered six hits, struck out four and walked five in the loss to Galveston. BPCC had just five hits.

Galveston scored the tying run in the bottom of the seventh on a two-out single.

With a runner placed at second in the bottom of the eighth, Galveston scored the winning run on another two-out single.

BPCC (12-4) hosts Navarro College in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Friday.
