The Community Foundation of North Louisiana is proud to announce Give for Good 2014— an exciting, online giving event that will empower the people of North Louisiana to come together and raise as much money as possible for local nonprofits in just 24 hours. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the community foundation movement, communities across America will be participating in this one day of giving.
The event begins at 12 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 and ends at 11:59 p.m. During these hours, all dollars raised through The Community Foundation’s giving website, will be amplified through matching funds from a national pool and the local Lagniappe Fund. The Community Foundation has committed $100,000 to the Lagniappe Fund, a pool of incentive dollars, for participating organizations and hopes to raise more through community partnerships by May 6th.
“Our goal in hosting Give for Good is to reach new donors and show them how important it is to give to local causes in North Louisiana. We also want to use this opportunity to build a new generation of philanthropists for our community,” said Paula Hickman, executive director of The Community Foundation. “Other metropolitan areas that have held similar events raised more than $1 million in a single day, and we’re challenging the people of North Louisiana to show a similar commitment to our local nonprofits.”
To be eligible to benefit from for Give for Good, a nonprofit must be a 501(c)3 organization, have a physical address in Caddo, Bossier or DeSoto parish, and currently provide services in one of these parishes. The Community Foundation staff will perform due diligence to ensure all organizations are in good standing with the IRS.
