Registration is now open for nonprofits wanting to participate in the second annual Give for Good Day, a 24-hour online giving day that will take place on May 5, 2015, from midnight to midnight. Registration will be open until January 30, 2015. Nonprofits wishing to register should visit www.giveforgoodnla.com.

“We again want to use this opportunity to build a new generation of philanthropists for our community,” said Paula Hickman, executive director of The Community Foundation. “We’re challenging the people of North Louisiana to show commitment to our local nonprofits and raise even more dollars this year.”

To be eligible to participate in Give for Good, a nonprofit must be a 501(c)3 organization, have a physical address in Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, DeSoto, Jackson, Lincoln, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Ouachita, Red River, Sabine, Union, or Webster parish and currently provide services in one of these parishes. The Community Foundation staff will perform due diligence to ensure that all organizations are in good standing with the IRS, the Louisiana Legislative Auditor and the Secretary of State.

During Give for Good Day all dollars raised through The Community Foundation’s giving website will be amplified through funds from the Lagniappe Fund, a pool of incentive dollars used to enhance every gift. The Community Foundation has committed $100,000 to the Lagniappe Fund for participating organizations and hopes to raise more through community partnerships by May 5. Businesses and individuals interested in supporting Give for Good should contact Jennifer Steadman at The Community Foundation for sponsorship information.

In its inaugural year, Give for Good raised more than $1.2 million for 76 nonprofits from more than 4,000 generous donors.
