The former husband/wife owners of a local dance studio have been arrested on multiple counts of molestation of one of their students.
Bossier Parish Sheriffs Detectives arrested the couple after the female victim came forward and told them about the sexual acts that took place years earlier when she was as young as 10 years old. She is now 28.
Gregg Hornbeak, 52, and his wife, Melonie (“Missy”) Hornbeak, 50, of the 1800 block of Glen Cove Dr. in Benton, were charged Aug. 23 with molestation of a juvenile for sexual acts with the young female dance student at their residence.
The victim told detectives she was molested on multiple occasions by the Hornbeak’s when she was between 10 and 17 years of age. When questioned by detectives, Gregg and Missy Hornbeak both allegedly admitted to having sexual encounters at least six times with the girl at their residence when she was a teenager.
The Hornbeak’s owned The Dance Shop in Shreveport before moving the studio to Bossier in 2002 and changing the name to Danceworx. The studio closed down in 2007.
During a search of the couple’s house, detectives recovered a bag of suspected marijuana, a bag of suspected marijuana roaches, rolling papers, smoking devices and a pistol.
In total, they are each charged with six counts of molestation of a juvenile, possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. They remain jailed at the Bossier Maximum Security Facility with bonds of $606,000 each.
Statute of limitations for molestation of a juvenile is 30 years from the time the victim turns 18.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
