A single vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 80 Monday morning claimed the life of a Bossier Schools employee.
Shortly before 9:00 a.m., March 20, 2017 Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a one vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 80 just west of Chandler Road that claimed the life of Dr. Frederick Ogunyemi, 68, of Shreveport.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2005 Nissan Altima operated by Dr. Ogunyemi, was traveling east on U.S. 80 when for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle exited the roadway into the median, struck a cross over, and overturned several times.

Ogunyemi sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to University Health Shreveport where he was later pronounced deceased.
Dr. Ogunyemi had been with Bossier Schools for 20 years and was a Facilitator of Social Services in the Student Services department. He was on school business when the crash occurred.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of Dr. Fred Ogunyemi, who was a friend to us all at Bossier Schools. ‘Dr. O,’ as he was affectionately called, had worked in the district for 20 years and will be missed in a tremendous way. He was the consummate professional, his work ethic unparalleled. He had an amazing personality and great attitude to match, going above and beyond what was ever asked of him, with never a complaint. This is a true testament of an outstanding man who will be sorely missed on this earth, but who will forever remain in our hearts,” said Scott Smith, Superintendent of Bossier Schools, in an emailed statement.
Impairment is not suspected in this crash; however toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis.
This crash remains under investigation.
