Cross Country: Airline’s Papineau wins meet in Texas; Benton Middle boys take Choudrant meet

Airlne senior Seth Papineau won the 5A and under boys division in the Southlake Carroll Invitational cross country meet on Saturday in Southlake, Texas.

Papineau covered the 5K course in 17:00.63. Spencer Doyle of Fort Worth Bethesda was second in 17:02.53.

Airline finished second with 91 points in the 16-team 5A and under division. Grapevine (Texas) won with 45.

Airline freshman Will Dart was fifth in 17:31.68. Other Vikings in the scoring were Taejon Morris (24th, 18:10.08), Joshua Burns (30th, 18:23.14) and Nate Godeaux (31st, 18:24.07).

Parkway is hosting a meet Saturday.

Elswhere, Benton Middle School won the Junior High boys division in the Choudrant Aggie Invitational and finished runner-up in the girls division.

Benton’s Hudson Harris and Logan Smith finished 4-5 in the boys run in 13:19.1 and 13:39.8. Josh Lim, Mason Haley and Austin Ballard finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively. Jaiden Beyer was 18th.

Benton’s Kenlee Perkins won the girls 2-mile run in 14:29.4.

Jessica Willis and Alisha Huffman were 10-11 in 17:03.6 and 17:04.3, respectively. Tahlor Walker finished 15th, Miranda Crabtree 17th, Daly Nagot 19th and Kaitlyn Skelone 20th.

Benton’s Tate Sellers and Marissa Schoth finished 7-8 in the fifth-sixth girls 1-mile run. Lexy Bouillion and Caroline Moore were 16th and 19th, respectively. Havyn Mutter was 29th out of 100 runners.

Benton’s Austin Finley was 11th in the fifth-sixth boys 1-mile run. Nate Sessions and Reed Petro finished 17-18. Jack Johnston and Jason Teague finished 20-21. Aiden Thomas was 24th and Braden Raab 29th out of 93 runners.
