Cross country: Benton fares well in middle school state championships; Cope’s Dart second

Benton Middle School won the girls’ title in the sixth-grade division of the Louisiana State Elementary and Junior High Cross Country State Championships on Saturday in Ruston. The Tigers also finished runner-up in the middle school (seventh- and eighth-grade) boys’ division.

Benton finished nine points behind champion Ruston. Cope’s Will Dart, who won the title in the state games in Monroe Oct. 24, finished second in the middle school division.
