Red, white and blue spirit filled the air on Wednesday, July 2, as Cypress Baptist Church hosted its annual Freedom Celebration at the church’s Benton campus, drawing hundreds of families and friends for a night of patriotic pride, fellowship and fireworks.
The event, held from 7 to 10 p.m., was a free, family-friendly celebration that brought the Benton and surrounding Bossier Parish communities together in honor of America’s freedom. Attendees brought lawn chairs and blankets, staking out the perfect viewing spots across the open lawn as children laughed, neighbors mingled and the aroma of food truck fare filled the summer air.
A hallmark of the event was its festive yet reverent tone—recognizing the blessings of liberty while uniting the community in celebration. With an array of games and activities for all ages, there was something for everyone, from carnival-style fun for kids to shaded gathering areas where adults could relax and reconnect.
As night fell, anticipation built for the fireworks display, which served as the grand conclusion to the evening. With patriotic music echoing in the background, the sky came alive with brilliant bursts of color, celebrating the nation’s independence in a powerful and memorable way.
The Freedom Celebration has become a cherished tradition for many in the Benton and Bossier Parish areas, reinforcing the spirit of unity and pride that defines the Fourth of July season.
