BOSSIER CITY – On March 4, 2014 David was asked to come home by his savior and lord. David was born to Jessie and Gloria Kauffman in Shreveport, LA on June 29, 1942. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Talley.
Our dad is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years and our beloved mother, Patsy Kauffman of Bossier City, LA; daughter, Nannette Chimpalee and husband Jim of Bossier City, LA; son, David Kauffman, Jr. and wife Ruthie of Dallas, TX; along with his granddaughters, Chelsea and Brittany. He is also survived by a sister, Kathy Carroll of Shreveport, LA and brother, Richard Kauffman of Doyline, LA.
Grandpa proudly served his country as a Marine and after his duties were completed, he worked many years as a conductor for Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. Unfortunately he was injured in a train accident that shortened his career. This injury did not keep him down; he volunteered as a guild member for Schumpert Medical Center where he was the treasurer and youngest member of this well respected volunteer team for many years.
Dad’s favorite job was being a grandpa where he excelled with his wit and life lessons. He always enjoyed fishing, reading, getting you to do something you did not want to do and keeping up with both of his granddaughter’s activities, whether it was in the hunter/jumper equine arena or in school. His soul and personality will be missed but never forgotten by his family. We love you Pop.
Pop will have a memorial service at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Bossier City, LA. Visitation will follow the memorial service and end at 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Grace Home in Shreveport, LA or their favorite charity.
