Bossier Sheriff detectives have arrested an East Carroll Sheriff’s Office deputy and an inmate at the Bossier Medium Security Facility Monday for conspiring to have sex with one another.

Donald R. Lewis, 38, of Lake Providence, was arrested around 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Bossier Medium Security Facility in Plain Dealing following a two-week investigation by Bossier detectives.

Detectives allege that Lewis, a deputy Sheriff with the East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office, was conspiring with a male inmate, Shaquille King, 20, of Lake Providence, who had been incarcerated at the Bossier Medium Security Facility, to have sex with each other. Additionally, investigators learned the two men conspired to bring tobacco, alcohol and marijuana to the corrections facility.

Lewis traveled in his own vehicle from Lake Providence, a 3.5 hour drive, to meet King Monday at the Plain Dealing corrections facility, where King was serving as a trustee inmate at the Sheriff’s Office pistol range. Both reportedly admitted to knowing each other for years.

Investigators learned of their plan, and detectives and members of the Bossier Sheriff’s Office Corrections Special Response Team thwarted Lewis’ attempt to contact King. Both men were arrested on the following charges:

Lewis:

  • Conspiracy to commit malfeasance in office – sexual conduct
  • Conspiracy to distribute a controlled dangerous substance
  • Conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution

King:

  • Conspiracy to distribute a controlled dangerous substance
  • Conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution
  • Three counts of inciting a felony

Lewis’ bond is set at $85,000. King’s bond is set at $50,000.

Detectives are continuing their investigation, and further charges are possible.
