Edwin Earl Davis
Edwin Earl Davis “PawPaw” was born on September 29th, 1921 in Berryville, Arkansas and died on April 20th, 2022 at his home in Elm Grove, LA.
Edwin was a sergeant in the army during World War II. In 1943, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in a foxhole in Italy during the war. After that, he left the military and began fulfilling the Lord’s calling for him to preach. He preached for over 50 years at many different churches and even taught Sunday school at his church, Koran Baptist, until the end of March 2022. On top of serving the Lord, he was a great outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irene Dae Davis, and son, Edwin Allen Davis.
He leaves behind his two children, Martha Alghareeb and husband Mike, and Freddie Davis, and wife Penny; his grandchildren, Millie Humphries and husband Nathan, Michael Alghareeb and wife Kim, Mark, Jeffrey, Tony, Sydney, and Haley Davis. He also leaves behind numerous great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Koran Baptist Church in Haughton, La.
Pallbearers will be Austin Alexander, Justin Cruse, Thomas Cooper, Troy Keith, Matthew Shirey, and Tim Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Brown, Ron Garrison, Larry Hatcher, Gary Teague, and Marion Wilson.
Services in his honor will begin with a visitation, Thursday, April 21st, at Hill Crest Memorial from 5 – 7 pm. The funeral will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 22nd, at Hill Crest Memorial, followed by Interment at Haughton Cemetery.
