Elm Grove swept the seventh- and eighth-grade boys titles and Cope won the girls in the Elm Grove/Haughton middle school track and field meet Tuesday.
It was the first meet of the season.
Elm Grove scored 135.5 points in the eight-grade division. Haughton was second with 70 followed by Benton (64.5), Greenacres (56), Cope (44) and Rusheon (17).
The Eagles won the seventh-grade division with 172 points. Cope and Benton shared second with 59. Greenacres was fourth with 48 followed by Rusheon (35) and Haughton (27).
Cope piled up 146 points in the girls division. Haughton and Greenacres shared second with 60 points each. They were followed Elm Grove (55), Rusheon (42) and Benton (39).
Cope’s Tre’ Jeter was the only double winner in the eighth-grade division, taking the long jump with a 19-2 and the discus with a 110-7.5.
Elm Grove had three winners — Darrius Bradford (100), Quinton Smith (400) and Kendrick Norwood (800).
Other eighth-grade winners were Cope’s Daniel Dial (1,600), Benton’s TJ Anderson (shot put), Haughton’s Bradley Moore (hurdles), Greenacres’ Coby McGee (200) and Rusheon’s Ke’Shawn Jones (high jump).
Greenacres won the 4X100 relay, Haughton took the 4X200 and Elm Grove captured the 4X400.
Elm Grove’s Amani Larry and Scott Perez and Rusheon’s Daniel Moore were double winners in the seventh-grade division.
Larry won the 400 in 1:00.0 and the 100 hurdles in 15.83. Moore won the long jump with a 17-11 and the 100 in 12.20.
Perez took the 800 in 2:24 and the 1,600 in 5:18.80.
Three other Elm Grove athletes won their respective events — Anthony Papason (discus), Kobe Gill (high jump) and Zeke McKnight (200).
Greenacres’ Londell Delanie won the shot put.
Elm Grove swept all three relays.
Cope’s Isabelle Shamblin was the only triple winner of the meet.
She won the 400 in 1:09.96, the 800 in 2:51.92 and the 1,600 in 6:09.
Cope’s Lauren Daley was a double winner, taking the 100 in 13.42 and the 200 in 28.37.
Other winners in the girls division were Greenacres’ Antavia Holmes (shot put), Greenacres’ Brittney Roberson (long jump), Elm Grove’s Abbie Norcross (discus) and Cope’s Chloe Walker (hurdles).
Cope swept all three relays.
