Elm Grove boys, Cope girls win district track titles

Elm Grove swept the seventh- and eighth-grade boys titles and Cope won the girls division in the Bossier Parish middle school district track and field meet Tuesday at Benton High.
Cope’s Isabelle Shamblin, Greenacres’ Brittany Roberson, Elm Grove’s Abbie Norcross and Greenacres’ Brianna Jacobs were all double winners in the girls division.
Shamblin won the 800 in 2 minutes, 48.03 seconds and the 1,600 in 6:01.52. She also finished third in the 400.
Greenacres’ Brittany Roberson was a double winner. She won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 4 inches and the hurdles in 16.40.
Norcross took the discus with a toss of 76-6 and the shot put with a 31-10.
Jacobs won the 100 in 13.37 and the hurdles in 16.40.
Other girls district champions were Elm Grove’s Jordan Lancaster (high jump, 4-6) and Cope’s Chloe Walker (200, 27.77).
Cope swept all three relays, winning the 4X100 in 55.26, the 4X200 in 1:59 and the 4×400 in 4:45.96.
Rusheon’s Daniel Moore was the lone double winner in the seventh-grade division.
He won the long jump with an 18-11 and the 100 in 12.07. He also finished second in the 200.
Other seventh-grade district champions were Elm Grove’s Scott Perez (1,600, 5:26.26), Elm Grove’s Amani Larry (hurdles, 15.59), Elm Grove’s Alija Barnett (800, 2:21.84), Greenacres’ Londell Delanie (shot put, 36-1 1/2), Benton’s Brad Fream (discus, 107-1), Elm Grove’s Kobe Gill (high jump, 5-1), Rusheon’s Travontay Griffin (400, 1:01.38) and Elm Grove’s Zeke McKnight (200, 25.64).
Elm Grove swept the relays, taking the 4X100 in 51.37, the 4X200 in 1:44.08 and the 4X400 in 4:19.15.
Cope’s Daniel Dial and Greenacres’ Tre Jeter were double winners in the eighth-grade division.
Dial won the 800 (no time available) and the 1,600 in 5:06.66.
Jeter won the long jump with a 19-9 and the discus with a 117-0.
Other eighth-grade district champions were Greenacres’ David Maxey (hurdles, 14.70), Rusheon’s Ke’Shawn Jones (high jump, 5-7), Benton’s TJ Anderson (shot put, 46-8 1/4), Haughton’s Kynan Hayes (100, 11.59), Elm Grove’s Destin Meza (400, 56.73) and Greenacres’ Coby McGee (200, 24.37).
Haughton won the 4X100 relay in 47.70, Elm Grove the 4X200 in 1:39.41 and Cope the 4X400 in 3:57.23.
