BOSSIER CITY – Funeral services for Emma Lou Purdy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel in Haughton, LA. Family friend, Rev. Jason Hebert of Bossier City, LA will be officiating, assisted by nephew Rev. Fred Martin of Camden, AR. The family will receive friends and loved ones at the on Thursday, September 20, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Purdy, who died Saturday, September 14, was born July 12, 1935 in Bodcaw, AR to Ula Myrtle Simpson and George D. Martin and had resided in Bossier City for approximately 33 years.

A paraprofessional for Meadowview and Butler Elementary, Mrs. Purdy retired from the Bossier Parish School Board in 1989. She spent her retired years being a wonderful woman caring for her large family and many friends.

Mrs. Purdy was preceded in death by her parents Myrtle Simpson and George D. Martin; first husband Joel H. Johnson; siblings, Harold P. Martin, Pauline M. Spencer, Helen Marlar, J.P. Martin and Horace D. Martin; and beloved daughter, Charlotte Jean Wall.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Paul R. Purdy of Bossier City, LA children, Randy M. Purdy of Eugene, OR; Martin J. Purdy and wife, Jody of McMinneville, OR; Pauline “Peppi” Purdy and fiancé David Biddlecombe; Richard P. Purdy all of Bossier City, LA; grandchildren, Krista Mackay, Kyle Purdy, Kris Purdy, McKenzie Purdy, Derek Purdy, Samantha Purdy, Ayla Purdy, Kyle and Tiffany Biddlecombe; great-grandchildren, Shea Lopez, Katy Hunter and Alyssa Dumas; special loved ones C.M. and Bobbie Boykin, Ken and Dianne Hebert, Sean and Michelle Hicks.
