Five parish teams make playoffs

Five Bossier Parish teams have made the LHSAA state football playoffs.

Only one — Louisiana New Tech at Plain Dealing — will be playing at home. The Lions (5-5), seeded 13th in Class 1A, will host No. 20 Ringgold (2-8) in a rematch between 1-1A rivals. New Tech won the first meeting 26-12 in Week 6.

There will be two other rematches in the first round. In Class 5A, No. 2 seed Parkway (9-0) takes on No. 31 Captain Shreve (2-8) at Lee Hedges Stadium. The Panthers won the first meeting 48-10 in Week 6 at Lee Hedges.

In Class 4A, No. 23 seed Benton (5-5) will travel to Shreveport to face No. 10 Northwood (9-1), the District 1-4A champion, at Jerry Burton Stadium. The Falcons won the first meeting 34-14 in Week 9.

Haughton and Airline will be on the road in the Class 5A playoffs. The No. 17 seed Bucs (6-4) travel to No. 16 Ponchatoula (7-3). The No. 19 seed Vikings (5-5) visit No. 14 (Covington (6-4).
