Congressman John Fleming, M.D., and Senator David Vitter will host an information session for students and parents who are interested in learning about the process of earning a nomination to one of the U.S. military service academies Saturday, October 4 at Bossier Parish Community College.
Students and parents in North Louisiana are invited to meet members of the Service Academies and learn about the Congressional nominations process from congressional staff. U.S. military service academies include West Point, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, the Coast Guard Academy, and the Merchant Marine Academy.
“It is one of my highest honors each year to nominate qualified candidates for appointment to U.S. service academies,” said Congressman Fleming. “It’s an opportunity to engage with our best and brightest, and our annual Service Academy Day is an important element in starting the process toward a nomination.”
Vitter added: “Attending a service academy is a real honor and a great opportunity for students to serve our country and obtain a post-secondary education. I’m proud to host this event with Rep. Fleming. It’s sure to be an excellent opportunity for students and their families to learn more about the academies.”
