Congressman John Fleming, M.D. released the following statement after attending emergency flood meetings in both Caddo and Bossier, visiting the Bossier Civic Center where forty-five citizens have sheltered from the storm, and taking a helicopter tour of the damaged areas.

“My heart and prayers go out to all those affected by this flood. Today I saw first hand the devastation it’s caused in Bossier and Shreveport and my office stands ready to assist in any way we can.”

Dr. Fleming is also taking the lead to prepare a Louisiana Congressional delegation letter to President Obama requesting swift action for federal disaster assistance. This letter will support the Governor’s request for a federal emergency declaration after the state is able to conduct a preliminary damage assessment.
