Fleming responds to Red River flooding

“This is a difficult time for many but I praise the community’s quick response in addressing it.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Congressman John Fleming, M.D. released the following statement after attending a briefing on Monday, June 8 at the Caddo EOC to receive an update on the Red River flooding: Fleming,John

“While the National Weather Service initially predicted a crest of around 34 feet, it has now been revised to about 37 feet and will continue to remain high throughout the week.  It could also take until the end of the summer for the Red River to return to normal levels.   So far at least 80 homes have been damaged.

“This is a difficult time for many but I praise the community’s quick response in addressing it. My office will continue to monitor the EOC briefings every day this week and work with the FEMA officials as they arrive to provide assistance.”

Dr. John Fleming is Chairman of the Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Power and Oceans and is a member of the House Armed Services Committee. He is a physician and small business owner and represents the 4th Congressional District of Louisiana.
