BOSSIER CITY – Floyd Edward Jones, 73, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, surrounded by his family. Services for Floyd Edward Jones will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Faith Chapel, First Baptist Bossier. Officiating will be Dr. Fred Lowery, pastor of the church. Interment will follow at Minden City Cemetery, Minden, LA. Visitation will be at the church, at 9 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service.
Floyd was born in Minden, LA on March 16, 1940. After graduating from Louisiana Tech, he served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality after 33 years of service. Floyd was an active member of First Baptist Bossier for 46 years. He served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member and deacon. Floyd was an avid hunter, fisherman and fishing lure collector. He loved teaching his grandsons how to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by his father, C.T. Dutton.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Frances Joyce Parsons Jones; sons, Victor Wade Jones and wife, Kim, James Wesley Jones and wife, Jamie; mother, Theda Dutton; grandchildren, Trevor Jones, Mitchell Jones, Morgan Brown, Macie Creech and brother, Philip Dutton and wife, Linda.
Honoring Floyd as pallbearers will be Jackie Lewis, Mike Owens, M.D., Byram Carpenter, Bobby Shadow, Jim Johnson and Wade Ratcliff.
