Football: Airline receiver Darby commits to Mississippi State

Airline rising junior receiver Kenny Darby has committed to Mississippi State.

Darby announced the decision on X (formerly Twitter) Friday.

Despite missing six games last season because of an injury, Darby caught 35 passes for 561 yards and nine touchdowns.

In Airline’s 56-50 loss to Mandeville in the non-select Division I quarterfinals, he had eight catches for 119 yards and a touchdown. In the Vikings’ 36-35 second-round victory over Southside, he caught six passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns.

In the season-opening victory over North DeSoto, he had 10 catches for 186 yards and two touchdowns.

Darby has also received offers from Louisiana Tech, Arkansas State, Tulsa,  South Florida and Texas Southern among others, per media reports. He is rated as a three-star receiver by rivals.com and 247 sports.

Darby has been hitting the camp circuit and was at Mississippi State’s camp June 1. He was offered then.
