The Cope Cougars and the Haughton Buccaneers will face off for the Bossier Parish middle school seventh-grade title Tuesday at Haughton.
The Cougars joined the Bucs at 4-0 in district play with a hard-fought 32-26 victory over the Rusheon Rams Thursday at Bossier’s Memorial Stadium. Cope also picked up its first eighth-grade win of the season, 48-28.
Jamal Johnson led the Cope seventh-graders with 127 yards on 11 carries. He scored touchdowns on runs of 48 and 14 yards. Johnson also had a 4-yard TD reception.
Thomas Williams had 87 yards on 20 carries. He scored one touchdown and three two-point conversions. Bryan Marshall had a 2-yard TD run.
Ja’Kaldrick Thomas had a big game for Rusheon, scoring four TDs. Two of those were on runs of 55 and 40 yards. He also caught a 25-yard TD pass from Kedrick Henderson and returned an interception 95 yards for a score.
Andrick Robinson had a 50-yard return, Kevin Pouncy scored a conversion and James Davis had five tackles.
Adrian Brooks had a monster game in Cooe’s eighth-grade victory, rushing for 297 yards on 18 carries. He scored five TDs on runs of 65, 64, 41, 45 and 3 yards. He also had two conversions.
Ian Stanfield retuned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown and scored on a 7-yard run. He also had an interception.
Daniel Turner rushed for 35 yards on three carries and Jacoby Bailey had 17 on three. Garrison Wade scored a conversion.
Jacoby Decker scored three TDs for Rusheon on runs of 2 and 70 yards and a 20-yard pass reception. He also scored two conversions. Daniel Moore ran 25 yards for a TD.
