The Haughton Buccaneers, Airline Vikings and Benton Tigers will play first-round football playoff games Friday night.
The Plain Dealing Lions (8-2), seeded sixth in the Class 1A playoffs, received a first-round bye in the and will get the week off. The Lions will host the Block-North Central winner a week from Friday.
Official pairings were announced by the LHSAA Sunday afternoon.
Haughton (8-2), the No. 5 seed in Class 5A, will host No. 28 Ouachita Parish (5-5). Airline (4-6), the No. 30 seed in 5A, travels to No. 3 Zachary (9-1)
Benton (8-2), the No. 4 seed, will host No. 29 Belle Chasse (4-6).
Ouachita Parish finished fourth in the always tough District 2-5A. Haughton and Ouachita’s only common opponent is Ruston. The Bucs beat the Bearcats 38-17 in Week 4. The Lions lost to the Bearcats 17-14 in Week 8.
Zachary is the District 4-5A champ. The Broncos have won nine straight since losing to 1-5A champ Byrd 24-21 in the season opener. Airline lost to Byrd 31-13 in Week 6.
Belle Chasse will come into Benton on a four-game losing streak. Belle Chasse plays in a tough District 9-4A. Four of the five teams in that district made the playoffs.
