BOSSIER CITY – A Mass of Christian Burial for Frank Charles Serio, Sr., 72, will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2013 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Minden, LA. The celebrant for the Mass will be Rev. Mark E. Franklin; con-celebrating will be Rev. Msgr. Earl V. Provenza, V.F. and Rev. Charles Glorioso. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery, Haughton, LA. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., with a vigil at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA.
Frank was born December 4, 1940 in Shreveport, LA and passed away June 10, 2013 at his weekend home in Heflin, LA from complications of diabetes. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Ringgold, LA. Frank was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Since 1976 he had been co-owner of Serios’ Feed and Seed, Inc. in Bossier City. Although he had retired, Frank still went to work three days a week. He was active with his children while they were in 4-H. Because of this, he became a member of the Ark-La-Tex Ag Council, participated in the State Fair of LA Livestock Auction and was active in the LA Thoroughbred Breeders Association.
Preceding Frank in death are his grandparents, Frank and Angelina Serio and Louis and Lucille Marabella; parents, Charles and Joanna Marabello Serio and sister, Angelina Serio and husband Philip.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Hamm Serio of Bossier City, LA; children, Dr. Frank C. Serio, Jr., Phd. and Gary Griggs of Natchitoches, LA, Jeanne Serio Smith and Buster Smith of Denham Springs, LA and James M. Serio and girlfriend Laura Pennington of Bossier City, LA; sister, Lucille S. McGregor and husband Marvin of Shreveport, LA; brother, Louis Serio and wife Linda of Bossier City, LA; brother-in-law, Victor Hamm, Jr. and wife Dianne of Dover, DE and grandchildren, Charles C. Smith and Susannah Smith. Frank is also survived by nieces, Linda Serio and Brandi Hamm and nephews, Phillip Serio, Jr. and wife, Trey Hamm, Michael Tomarchio and Scott Serio and wife Sara Serio, M.D.
Honoring Frank as pallbearers will be Alex Daigle, Johnny Donaghey, James Gilbert, Sid Robinson, Scott Serio and Jack Warren. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Serio’s Feed and Seed, Inc., Loyd Dodson, W.C. Thomas and Larry Jolivette.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Diabetes Association or the Backside Benevolent Fund of Bossier City.
