Home Life Freda Burroff

Freda Burroff

BOSSIER CITY – A longtime resident of Bossier City, Freda Burroff passed away Friday evening, December 27th at the age of 88. Freda lived a full life and was a woman of passion, and elegance. In an act of poignancy, Freda died one day after her 60th wedding anniversary, a date her husband Joe had asked her to live to when Freda’s health began declining a year ago.

Freda possessed a tender heart that led her to be home to her loving dogs that became her “adopted children” when her own children moved out of the home. After successfully raising her three children in a warm and caring manner, she spent her time being a gardener where she would grow her vegetables, spices, and flowers. It was always the orchids, which she loved, that had the uncanny ability to find their path to the mulch pile quickly, but everything else she planted would grow beautifully. Freda and her husband spent many hours sitting on the porch with their dogs enjoying the fruits of their labor.

Freda is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren whose photos and accomplishments she was so proud of she would share with friends many of whom she would meet at their daily outing at the casino buffet. This included her husband of 60 years, Joseph (Joe); son Jay (wife Alison, children Hannah and Ethan); daughter Teresa (husband Tim, children Michelle, Missy, and Jack); daughter Janet (husband Kevin) and her dear lifelong friends from childhood, Betty and Myra.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to an animal shelter that keeps the funds in Bossier City/Shreveport area. The family will have a Celebration of Freda’s life at a later time to be arranged and announced.
