Fundraiser to help clean up Lake Bistineau, giant salvinia

Lake Bistineau News in conjunction with Rebuilding Bistineau Strong (Non-profit) will have a fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 1, to help raise money to control Giant Salvinia and provide solutions to the evasive weed.

The event will be held from 12 noon until 10 p.m. at Lake Bistineau State Park’s Rally Pavilion (103 State Park Rd Doyline, LA 71023).

Lake Bistineau is over grown with Giant Salvinia. According to a press release, there’s a 28 ft. barge that will suck the weed from the lake onto another barge then off load onto private land for disposal later. They also support weevils along with keeping our state park open.
