The Pride of Pantherland marching band from Parkway High School recently competed at the Classic on the Cane Marching Contest, hosted by the Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.

Thirty-one high school marching bands with approximately 1,800 members from Louisiana and Texas competed in five classifications. Parkway High School was awarded best percussion, best auxiliary, best band, most entertaining show and overall grand champions with a score of 97.25.

Airline High School finished third with a score of 90.1, followed by Haughton High School in fourth place with a score of 89.3.

Guess who came for a visit at Curtis Elementary? LSU quarterback Brandon Harris!

Teacher Jena Johnston surprised her class, and the rest of the school for that matter, with a visit from the former Parkway star and now favorite QB for the Tigers. Needless to say, they were so excited!

Cope Middle School:

John Michael Guyton, Ethan Ennis, Garrett Fox, Kevin Castro, and Lucas McCain take a moment during Cope’s annual 7th grade cross-curricular cemetery trip to examine the headstone of a Revolutionary War soldier.  On this trip students spend a day outside the classroom walls studying the rich history that northwest Louisiana has to offer.
