The community gathered in prayer today at the Bossier Sheriff’s Office substation on Viking Drive. Church leaders and community members stood side-by-side and hand-in-hand with area law enforcement officers, uniting as one following the tragic deaths of five Dallas police officers Thursday night.
Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington said the vigil was held to honor the request of the Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, who called for a time of prayer at noon.
“I don’t have all the answers. Nobody does. But I know who does and that was the purpose of today’s prayer rally…to ask the Lord to come in, heal our land and provide protection for our law enforcement officers. That’s what we did today,” Whittington said.
