Gene Elton Madden, age 87, of Benton, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024. He was born February 23, 1937, in Red River Parish, the community of Hall Summit.
As a small child, Gene’s family moved to Bossier where he lived the rest of his life. Gene was a Bossier High School graduate. He displayed great talent in sports and played basketball throughout his high school years, earning recognition as an All State Basketball Player.
Gene retired as Assistant Fire Chief from the Bossier City Fire Dept. He also co-owned and operated Moseley’s Wheel Alignment in Bossier with his cousin, Bobby Moseley. Upon Bobby’s retirement, Gene’s son, Rodney became co-owner.
Mr. Madden was a faithful and dedicated member of Cypress Baptist Church. He truly cherished his church and church family. He also enjoyed to travel with his wife, Laverne, and other family members.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Clyde and Lillie Mae (Moseley) Madden; two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his loving wife, Laverne Madden; son, Rodney Madden and wife Lisa; grandson, Colton Madden and wife Molly; and sister, Micki Madden, as well as extended family and dear friends.
Visitation for Gene will be held Saturday, November 30, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037, followed by a Celebration of Life service beginning at 2:00 pm with Pastor Tommy Patton officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Park.
Pallbearers will be Colton Madden, and nephews: Stacey Madden, Bill Brothers, Jr., John Brothers, Mark Moorehead and Johnny Coats, Jr.
