BOSSIER CITY – Gerda Liesbeth Andexer Farmer passed away June 7, 2013 after a long struggle with cancer.
A Memorial Service in her honor will take place at 4:15 pm Thursday, June 27 at Holy Trinity
Gerda was born in 1925 the day after Christmas in East Prussia to parents Fritz and Elise Andexer.
Having survived World War II, she met and married Jack N. Farmer in Wiesbaden, Germany 1953.
Gerda became a U.S. Citizen in 1955 and with her husband who served as an officer in the US Air Force, raised their family, setting up household in Colorado, California, Germany, Alabama, Michigan, and Louisiana.
She is survived by her sister, Helga Schoener, of Singen, Germany, her son, Mark and his wife, Jill of San Antonio, TX and their children Ryan, Tyler and Nicholas and his wife, Gabriela; her daughter, Linda and her husband, Ron Nance of Houston, TX, and their children Emily and Taylor and his wife, Lora, and other loved ones who will miss her terribly.
Gerda had been a founding member of Trinity Lutheran Church which later merged to became Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
She and her husband had been active in supporting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in memory of Gerda Farmer to either of these organizations or to the donor’s choice.
