Girls basketball: Airline falls to Walker; Plain Dealing routs OCS

The 2014-15 season came to an end for the Airline Lady Vikings Thursday night, but the Plain Dealing Lady Lions kept theirs going.

Airline, the No. 31 seed in Class 5A, fell to No. 2 Walker 78-45 in Houma. The Lady Vikings finished the season 20-8. Walker (28-5), the District 4-5A champion, hosts No. 15 South Lafourche in the second round next week.

The game was the final one for seniors Madison Rowland, Kei McCoy, Kennedy Parson, Katie Parson and Jasmine Carr.

Plain Dealing, the No. 18 seed in Class 1A, pulled off a mild upset, routing No. 15 Ouachita Christian 52-31 in Monroe. The Lady Lions (18-11) will travel to Abbeville next week to face No. 2 Vermilion Catholic (22-4), a 53-36 winner over No. 31 Logansport, in the second round.

Dranautika Thomas led the Lady Lions with 20 points. Dra Briggs added 12, Navia Johnson nine, Hersey Stumon five and Teaunna Perry four.
