The Airline Lady Vikings opened District 1-5A play with a 45-31 victory over Captain Shreve Monday night at Parkway.

The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday at Shreve but was changed because the Shreve gym is being used for another school event this week.

Kei McCoy and Tyra Kidd led Airline (14-4) with 11 points each.

The Lady Vikings led 21-16 at the half and stretched the lead to double digits in the second. The Lady Gators, forcing turnovers with full-court pressure, rallied in the fourth and got within six.

Freshman Camilla Rodriguez came up big for the Lady Vikings down the stretch, scoring eight straight points. Two of those came on free throws she shot for McCoy, who appeared to hurt her leg as she was fouled and hit the floor.
