Brandy Harris scored 19 of her 28 points in the second half as the Benton Lady Tigers rallied from an early deficit to defeat the Haughton Lady Bucs 62-48 in a season opener Tuesday night at Haughton.
Airline opened its season with 50-23 victory over Northwood at Northwood.
Haughton led 17-8 early in the second quarter but Benton closed the first half on an 15-7 run to get within one.
The Lady Tigers took control of the game with a 19-0 run to start the second half.
Freshman Emily Ward scored 12 points for Benton. Lele Carper added nine and Lazaria Lloyd eight.
Morgan Buxton led Haughton with 15 points, including three first-half 3-pointers that helped her team take the early lead. Inez Green contributed 14 points and Bethany Knotts had eight.
Tyra Kidd led Airline with 14 points. Bre McGlothen and Traciona Russell added eight points each, and Camila Rodriguez had six.
Benton hosts Airline Thursday night. The game was rescheduled from Friday because of Benton’s football playoff game.
