Give for Good day planned for May 3

The Community Foundation of North Louisiana is set to host Give for Good for the third time on May 3, 2016. This exciting, online giving event empowers the people of North Louisiana to come together and raise as much money as possible for the 180 participating local nonprofits in just 24 hours.

The event begins at 12 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 and ends at 11:59 p.m.  During these hours, all dollars raised through The Community Foundation’s giving website, will be amplified with more than $225,000 dollars from the Lagniappe Fund. The Community Foundation has committed $100,000 to the Lagniappe Fund, with special thanks to the other corporate Lagniappe Fund donors: Grayson Foundation; Powers Foundation; Cook, Yancey, King & Galloway; and donor advised funds at The Community Foundation.

Information about all the participating nonprofits can be found on the Give for Good website – www.giveforgoodnla.org. The Foundation encourages the community to research and learn more about the nonprofits in our area. Information such as mission, social media accounts and a link to the organization’s LINCC profile can be found on each nonprofit’s profile page.

“Our goal in hosting Give for Good is to build a new generation of philanthropists for our community and show how important it is to give to nonprofit organizations in North Louisiana. We want to raise awareness about the many services they each provide to our community,” said Paula Hickman, executive director of The Community Foundation.  “Last year during Give for Good, our community raised more than one million dollars and this year we are challenging the people of North Louisiana to double that commitment to our local nonprofits.”

The minimum donation that can be made is $10 and anyone can participate by visiting www.giveforgoodnla.org, or by stopping by one of the many events happening on May 3. Next week, a list of events will be available at http://giveforgoodnla.org/events.  The community is encouraged to watch the live-streaming leaderboard throughout the 24-hours to see the total dollar amount being raised.

Learn more about the event by visiting the Give for Good website. Updates about Give for Good can be found on The Foundation’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
