Believe it or not, 2015 is here! Wow! Happy New Year!

I hope that your year is getting off to a great start! With the start of the new year, our focus at BPT over the last few weeks has been centered around what we want to accomplish during 2015. Let me just say, some big things are in store for your newspaper during the year ahead.

RandyWe have a new BPT Managing Editor, as Amanda Simmons from our newsroom has moved into this position replacing Sean Green, who is now the Publisher and Vice President of our BIZ Magazine. Amanda is a great asset to the Bossier Press Tribune team. Amanda is both a great reporter and a great photographer and can capture an awesome story both with her writing and with her photographs too. Amanda is a great fit for our Managing Editor position! Personally, I am really looking forward to working with Amanda in her new role as managing editor of our newspaper. She has tremendous talents, gifts and abilities that will enable us to accomplish our objectives in covering your Bossier Parish news!

In 2015, our sports department (under the outstanding guidance of our Sports Editor Russell Hedges) will continue to bring you in-depth coverage of Bossier Parish sports (youth, middle school and high school). We also will be covering some former Bossier Parish sports stars who have moved on to the next level (college/pro). Furthermore, we  have many exciting things that we will be doing from both the circulation/distribution and marketing side in 2015 that will broaden BPT’s reach within Bossier parish.

I am really looking forward to the year ahead! I hope that you are too!

And one more thing in closing, my column last week talked about our top newspaper stories for 2014. So many positive things took place within Bossier parish last year and the table is set for many great things to happen this year and in the years beyond.

My column was picked up by a local radio show and last Wednesday evening, I had an opportunity to appear “on air” in order to discuss the many positive things happening here in Bossier Parish! What a privilege for me and what an opportunity we all have in 2015 to achieve even greater accomplishments!
