Haughton Adventure Weekend

Fun, fellowship scheduled for May 1-4

Local business owners and community members are preparing for quite an adventure.

Festivals, dinners, big giveaways and nationally known personalities are slated for a weekend of fun and fellowship during Haughton Adventure Weekend. The event is a family friendly, multi-day adventure that is open to the community.

The event, scheduled for Thursday, May 1, through Sunday, May 4, will feature many fun activities with special guests, including Willie Robertson, Jay Lowder and Jimmy Houston. Activities offer something for everyone and for all age groups – an Outdoor Family Fest, Women’s Night Out, Xtreme Student Night and Community Celebration Rally.

Kenny Jenkins, owner of Southern Soil Environmental, Inc. in Haughton, said the concept of Haughton Adventure Weekend is to join businesses and faith-based organizations to celebrate faith in the community and the role it plays and to share it with others.

“It’s a gift to our community,” he said. “It’s a faith and fellowship celebration that we hope leaves a positive impact on this community.”

Jenkins said it has taken about eight months to plan the event and 19 teams of people from various churches, businesses and community members.

“There’s a whole host of people dedicated to organizing and helping with this event,” he said. “We want others to see what faith has done for our lives and how a relationship with God has such a vital part of our community.”

Jenkins extended an invitation to the public to attend any and all events planned for Haughton Adventure Weekend.

“We want people to come out and have a good time, but we also want them to see the excitement that comes with having faith in our lives and as a community,” he said. “They can come out and participate, listen to our guest speakers and take home something that is a long-term, life changing benefit for them.”
