The Haughton duo of Tripp Bowman and Matthew Nesbit finished runner-up in the Louisiana High School State Championships bass fishing tournament Saturday on Cross Lake.
Bowman and Nesbit caught a five-fish limit weighing 17 pounds, 11 ounces. Luke Herring and Tyler Pate of North DeSoto won with five fish weighing 24-12.
Another Haughton duo, Zackey Hogg and Jacob Dupree, finished fourth with five fish weighing 14-2. The Benton duo of Garrett Pierce and Gunnar Gray was fifth with three fish weighing 12-2.
The 2017 High School Fishing World Finals are scheduled for June 27-July 1 on Lake Pickwick in Florence, Ala.
