Haughton High class reunion

Dust off those yearbooks – it’s time to take a walk back down memory lane.

The Haughton High School class of 1994 has big plans for its 20 year reunion. Event planners are inviting classmates back to town for two days of social events and family fun this month.

Class of ’94 graduate Jennifer Forshag will be making the drive from Lafayette for the event and is looking forward to seeing her classmates again. She’s also looking forward to being back in the town she once called home.

“Lafayette is where I call home now, but I still love to visit,” she said. “There’s a warm place in my heart for Haughton.”

Forshag moved to the small Bossier Parish town when she was eight-years-old. She spent her high school years participating in Student Council and as a member of the award-winning dance team, the Highsteppers.

“We were a championship dance team,” Forshag recalled. “We traveled to Florida and competed at nationals; we went to New Orleans for state competitions and even went to Dallas.”

Now, she’s hoping to rekindle those memories with the friends she spent many days in high school with.

“We would love for everyone to come. Don’t worry about what you look like because nobody looks the same from high school,” Forshag said.

The Haughton High School class of 1994 reunion kicks off Friday, April 11, with a multi-class social at Silver Star Smokehouse in Bossier City. Forshag said the event is open to all former Haughton students and graduates, not just the class of ’94.

“Simply show up and socialize,” she said. “It’s a pay as you go event.”

There will be a family day at Haughton High School, 210 E. McKinley St., Saturday, April 12, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. for the class of ’94. Forshag said the event is open to “everyone who was part of the class,” whether they graduated or not.

“Bring your own picnic lunch and take a walk down memory lane,” she said. “We are supposed to have a tour of the school property and there will be activities for the kids.”

Forshag added that siblings and parents/grandparents of the class of ’94 are welcome to attend too.

“Our school is close knit so everybody knows everybody at Haughton,” she laughed.

Later that night, the class of ’94 will gather for dinner, drinks and dancing at CoHab in downtown Shreveport, 500 Clyde Fant Pkwy #200. The event will be from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. and costs $30 per person to attend. Price includes a catered buffet-style dinner, drinks and a time to socialize with old friends.

Forshag said graduates can participate in any or all of the events.

“The clicks have gone away, everyone just lets loose and catches up on old times,” she added. “We had a blast at our 10 year celebration and we’re hoping the party continues 10 years later.”

A group has been created on Facebook to update graduates on event plans. It can be found by searching Haughton High Class of 1994~Reunion Time!

Forshag asked that graduates share information posted online be shared with those who aren’t on social media.

Tickets for the event at CoHab can be purchased through a link on the Facebook group page. Those who do not have access to Facebook can mail a check. The deadline for payment is Friday, April 4.

A room block is also available at the Hilton in downtown Shreveport for those looking for hotel accommodations. For more information, contact Jennifer Forshag at (337) 330-6028 or jennyforshag@cox.net.
